You must have heard or read a lot on things that tell you what you are, you know, “you are this”, “you are that” and all.
However, in this post, I will be telling you 5 things that you are from the health angle.
Important Things That You Are
You are what you eat
You must have heard this famous quote a million times. Well, this is partly true. Yes, this statement is 50% true as what you eat must be absorbed before it can work in your body.
So, you are actually what you eat because what you eat serves as building blocks for the repair and development of your body. Food communicates with your DNA and tells it what to do.
Most of your food, about 80% should be living and healthy foods (whole plant foods). If it is naturally made (found in nature/made by God), it is fine and you should eat it in the same form God made it.
In this way, your body will have healthy building blocks to repair itself and fight off cancer and other degenerative diseases.
However, when the majority of your foods are junk and unnatural, you would be inviting trouble as your body won’t have what it needs to repair itself and fight off diseases.
Overtime, incurable diseases set in, and if the right step is not taken, death can occur.
Your diet is the best way to prevent and even reverse diseases. And remember, prevention is cheaper, better, and easier than cure.
You are what you absorb
This second statement completes the first one. Absorption is what makes your diet important. Eating is one part, but absorption is the most important.
We are what we absorb. You can eat a nutritious meal but if your digestive system has issues, those nutrients cannot be absorbed and shared with your body parts.
The way to fix this issue is to treat digestive problems like gastric or peptic ulcers, leaky gut, inflammatory bowel syndrome, irritable bowel disease, Crohn’s disease, etc.
By treatment, I don’t mean suppressing the symptoms with herbs or drugs but removing the root causes and bringing your system back into balance.
When your digestive system is working well, you will benefit greatly from what you eat and absorb.
You are what you don’t detox
Detoxification is a normal part of our daily metabolism. Our organs of detoxification work daily, these are your colon, liver, lungs, skin, and kidneys.
But wrong diet, bad lifestyle, stress, presence of heavy metals in the body, toxins, and excess bad bacteria in the gut can slow down the functions of these organs.
This, in turn, will lead to the accumulation of wastes, toxins, and other unwanted substances in the body thereby causing diseases.
Your body will store these toxins in your fat cells so that they won’t harm your other body cells, tissues, and organs.
When your diet and lifestyle don’t help your body detox, these wastes and toxins will be used later in building new tissues of your body and this will cause problems in the future.
The reason most people are sick and their bodies don’t function well are because wrong materials (wastes and toxins) were used to create their fundamental units of life.
We are what we don’t detox from our bodies. So a very good way to boost the functions of your detoxification organs is to:
- Eat healthily, avoid unnatural additives and chemicals that will demand detox later. These dietary hazards are sometimes difficult to detox. Prevention is better than cure.
- Live a healthy lifestyle, especially in being active. The modern lifestyle is programming one to be more sedentary than God designed us to be. Physical activity boosts the elimination of toxins, especially through sweat.
- Drink at least a cup of any herbal tea of your choice daily. Also, hydrate well by consuming a sufficient amount of clean drinking water. Increase your intake of fruits and veggies as they help in cleaning your internal system and bringing balance to your body.
You are what you think
It is now an established fact that all diseases start in the mind. You are what you think.
Positive thoughts and emotions promote health while negative thoughts and emotions cause diseases and malfunctions of the body.
Continuous negative thoughts and emotional stress can put the body into a constant state of flight-or-fight response.
In this state, your body shuts down many critical functions like immunity, reproduction, cellular, tissue, and organ repair and regeneration, detoxification, and others.
It just focuses on survival. This is not good when it happens for a long time. Diseases start breeding and your health starts to deteriorate.
There are specific thought patterns responsible for every disease but your best guard against emotional causes of diseases is to try and see the good in every situation.
Practice gratitude always, forgive easily, confront issues when necessary so you don’t bear grudges, and learn to speak your truth.
