Your habit has a great influence on your health. It can either help make you healthy or destroy you. While it is easier to make new habits, it is quite difficult to stop old habits.

Although, with discipline, determination, and consistency, you can drop old habits and pick new ones that promote your overall health.

A healthy lifestyle can increase your lifespan. An unhealthy lifestyle would send you to an early grave. Below are some of the healthy activities to turn into a lifestyle.

  1. Reading

Knowledge is power. Information is a weapon. And precious knowledge and information are hidden in good books. If you form a habit of reading daily, you would increase your knowledge, skill, productivity, and overall life.

Pick an area you want to be known in. There are many niches, we have finance, health, relationship, cooking, and many more. Reading good books is just like traveling around.

You would gain experience and develop yourself. My journey to naturopathy started when I started reading health books. By God’s grace, I am a naturopath today. And I am still reading.

  1. Walking

Exercise is good for health but you don’t have to go and kill yourself in the gym to achieve this. Just walking for at least an hour each day can increase your lifespan by 7 years.

Walking detoxify your body of toxins. It boosts the flow of blood and oxygen to all your cells. It aids digestion and absorption of foods. Walking has a lot of tremendous health benefits.

It would be great if you can factor this into your daily activities.

  1. Meditation/time alone

Many people are scared to be alone. You shouldn’t be. This is a time you should crave every day. In your alone time, you let your inner voice speak.

This will help you release hurt, negative emotions, and other things not good for your health. Your inner voice speaks to you on how to take care of your body, you learn new things about yourself.

You learn how to love yourself and take care of yourself better. Don’t be scared to be alone. Great changes start happening when you crave for a “me time” and work towards it.

Meditation and prayers also improve your health. This is no joke, many have received healing by these acts. When you make time for prayers, your health would improve.

It is just like visiting your doctor, if he sees anything wrong in your physical body, he would tell you and help you heal it. The same thing happens when we go to God, the designer of man.

He won’t watch your body crumble without helping. Here what Job said of his fellowship with God.

Thou has granted me life and favor, and thy visitation hath PRESERVED MY SPIRIT”. Constant prayers and meditation would preserve your health.

  1. Take a glass of herbal tea daily

Herbs are Mother Nature’s medicines to man. You must have the popular saying, “make food your medicine..”. Nature is designed in such a way that our medicines are in our foods.

This age of fast food and junk is not helping our health. Herbs can help prevent nutritional deficiencies and also detoxify toxins, harmful, and unwanted substances in our bodies.

In our environment today, we have about 70,000 toxins. These get into our bodies through the air, our skincare products, hair care products, processed foods, treated water, medications, vaccines, and so on.

About 10,000 of these chemicals are in our foods alone. These include processed food, GMOs, packaged and canned foods, canned drinks, sugary foods, and so on.

These herbal teas will help detoxify your body daily. Examples of herbal teas you can include in your daily diet are lemon and ginger tea, Moringa tea, green tea, cinnamon tea, turmeric tea, lemon water, and so on.

  1. Interact with nature

I personally believe that the reason why we have more sicknesses than ever in history despite our advancement in science and technology is that we have disconnected ourselves from nature.

It is only in a natural environment that man can live long and disease-free. These days, we are doing everything possible to shield us from nature.

We use sunscreen instead of absorbing the wonderful healing rays of sunlight. We don’t have contact with the earth blaming germs and so on, forgetting that the earth is our natural immunization and contact with the earth strengthens your immune system.

We kill our water in the name of treating it and what we have today is dead water. We are told pets carry germs and diseases and we lose the love and fellowship of wonderful animals that would boost our health.

There are many ways to interact with nature.

  • Keep a garden that you tend with love and care. Touch your plant, speak to them. They can read you and they will manufacture what is lacking in your body.
  • Keep a pet or pets and you love and provide for them. Examples are cats, dogs, parrots, chickens, etc.
  • Plant a tree or trees that you tend and look at with love. This will do wonders for your health.
  • Make contact with the earth each day. You can practice grounding daily (standing or walking barefoot on the earth). You would be absorbing the most powerful radiation on earth which brings man’s body into balance.
  • Keep potted plants in your home. Care for them and water them daily.
  • Walk under gentle sunshine daily. You can do this during sunrise and sunset. You can also practise sun gazing. This will do wonders for your brain and overall body.
  • Appreciate a natural and wonderful environment. Do not destroy this planet. It is the only home you’ve got. Plant trees, practice deep breathing when in a garden. You are taking in the purest oxygen you can think of.
  • Do a kind deed each day. This would make you happier and healthier.
